4th private banking kongress Munich 2013

Networking in the heart of the city

The fourth private banking kongress meeting attracted over 280 guests and high-profile speakers to the two-day event, the largest private banking industry congress. Its motto, “Cops and Robbers”, promised top-flight information and entertainment. Former enforcement agent Frank Werheim helped keep that promise by sharing anecdotes from his active days in the field and analysingthe latest changes to the list of tax havens. Derivatives trader Nick Leeson opened up and described how he single-handedly drove the famed Barings Bank into bankruptcy and himself into jail, giving listeners a peek at life on the other side of the law.

The other topics – such as strategies in the low interest rate environment, crisis-proof investments in commodities and the challenge posed by shareholding thresholds – were also a hit with attendees.
